About the Author:
A native of Fargo, North Dakota, Robert C. Borden was reared in Georgia and New York before moving with his family to Bryan, Texas, in 1961. He is a 1971 journalism graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with minors in history and government. He worked for newspapers in Killeen, Lubbock, Midland, and Odessa before returning to Bryan in 1977. After an eight-year stint in retailing, Borden returned to newspapering, joining the Bryan-College Station Eagle as education reporter in 1986. Sine 1990, he has been opinions editor of the Eagle.
